现任第二军医大学长海医院消化内科主任、教授，兼任国家消化系统疾病临床医学研究中心主任、全军消化内科研究所所长、全军消化内镜中心主任、上海市胰腺疾病研究所所长，曾任国务院学位委员会学科评议组成员、中华医学会常务理事、中华消化内镜学会主任委员，现任中国医师协会内镜分会会长、中国医师协会胰腺病专业委员会主任委员、中国抗癌协会肿瘤内镜学专委会候任主委，《中华消化内镜杂志》、《中华胰腺病杂志》、《Journal of Interventional Gastroenterology》杂志主编。

李兆申是消化病学和消化内镜学专家，从事医教研一线工作35年，在胰腺疾病、胆道疾病和胃肠疾病研究方向上取得一系列成果。国内率先提出和建立胃肠疾病内镜诊疗新观念和新技术，研制成功国际先进、具有自主知识产权的一二代胶囊内镜系统，国际率先建立4项胰腺癌内镜诊疗新技术，提高胰腺癌患者的生存率和生存质量。基础与临床结合、医工结合，创立研发多项内镜诊治新技术和新器械，建立我国消化内镜质控标准和专业人才培训体系，为我国消化内镜技术普及和快速发展做出重要贡献。

近5年主持国家科技支撑计划、国家科技重大专项等国家和军队重大课题40项。获国家发明专利18项，主编专著47部，发表SCI论文245篇，总IF 1003，被引3598次。获国家科技进步二等奖5项(4项第一、1项第二)、国家级教学成果二等奖1项和省部级科技进步一等奖3项。获何梁何利奖、总后科技金星、上海市科技精英等多项荣誉，荣立个人一等功1次、二等功3次。培养研究生103名，2名获全国百篇优博。为国内外培养千余名消化内镜专业骨干。
